A track with a name
Darb Aba Al-Ghubtan is one of the tracks the people of Sadus count among the landmarks that tell their story.
No one can say for certain where its name comes from, but in Sadus tracks carry their names the way houses carry the names of their families.
A web of tracks
Sadus is linked to its surroundings by old tracks: the Abkain road to Al-Uyaynah, Darb Habudal in Shaib Al-Darb, and the Malham track.
Before paved roads, these were the ways people reached their farms, their neighbours and their markets.
Between valleys and mountains
Sadus sits in a landscape that brings together the historic village, farming oases and the valleys and ravines around them.
Along the track the scene shifts between rock, sand and trees, while the village stays behind you, a cluster of mud walls among the palms.
Before you set off
Set out early in the morning or in the late afternoon, carry plenty of water, wear shoes made for gravel and rock, and never go alone.
Ask locally about the route before you take it.
